The Director General Riitta Kaivosoja presented the prize amount of €15 000 12th September in Helsinki. Päivi Rintaniemi is known as the founder and head designer of Amfora, a company offering mainly ceramic tableware and interior decoration articles. She has also succeeded as an artist with her unique, ceramic artworks. Amfora has been operating for over two decades and it has attracted both domestic and international attention together with Rintaniemi’s artworks. The success story illustrates Päivi Rintaniemi’s remarkable ability to combine often conflicting roles of designer, artisan and artist. Päivi Rintaniemi’ s design is inspired by life and joy. Amfora’s product collections manifest the life by offering functional tableware and interior decoration articles which meet the needs of everyday use and changing conditions.
